TY - JOUR TI - Résolution d’un problème de modélisation et pratique écrite de l’écrit AU - Adjiage, Robert AU - Rauscher, Jean-Claude T2 - Recherches En Didactique Des Mathématiques AB - This paper addresses the experimental phase of a didactical engineering effort involving a modeling problem-solving sequence at Grade 5 (ages 10–11 years). We examine the students’ progress through the evolution of their explanatory texts, paying special attention to their explicit arguments and justifications. Our main hypothesis was that sharing and revising peers’ writings, particularly through a “written practice of writing” (Duval 2001), helps students develop solutions that integrate the terms of the modeling process. This hypothesis was validated for a little more than two-thirds of the students.
