These frameworks are perceived as reference points for teachers and students from which they can evoke or rebuild knowledge, situations, or objects of a common or fictional past. Based on a study undertaken in France and Costa Rica, we have identified five types of memory gestures which teachers use to activate their students’ memory and which also mobilize elements of the institutional framework of the didactic memory.
