We offer theoretical concepts (community knowledge and documentary incidents), the networking of theories (community of practice, levels of teacher’s activity, documentational approach of didactics) and methodological developments to capture the individual and collective documentation in their structure, their dynamics and their interactions. The study is conducted on a collective of Sésamath engaged in the design of a digital textbook for grade 10. We are particularly interested in the development of resources for the teaching of the « functions », for the complexity and richness of this theme. In our analysis, we highlight the process of emergence of knowledge within the studied collective. We are also following the process of its spreading in the individual documentation. The study shows that the documentary incidents appear as revealing the networking between individual and collective documentation.
