Résumé

Parallèlement à l’intérêt suscité récemment par l’intégration de la statistique et des probabilités dans des projets curriculaires, il est clair qu’il existe des obstacles importants dans l’apprentissage de différents concepts de ces domaines. Ces difficultés et « misconceptions » font l’objet d’un certain nombre de recherches, surtout avec des élèves de l’enseignement secondaire. A ce propos, il manque des travaux de recherche sur des étudiants de l’enseignement universitaire. Le premier objectif de ce travail est d’étudier les critères utilisés par les étudiants pour décider de la probabilité d’un événement, après avoir participé à un cours universitaire sur la théorie des probabilités. Le deuxième objectif est de classer ces conceptions dans des catégories explicatives qui permettent de donner une idée des progrès des apprentissages des étudiants.

Mots-clés : Chance et probabilité, misconceptions, apprentissage significatif, heuristiques disponibles, heuristiques représentatives, biais de l’equiprobabilité.

Abstract

Along with the great interest raised by the incorporation of statistics and probability into curricular projects, evidence has arisen of important obstacles to the meaningful learning of various concepts in these fields. These difficulties and ’misconceptions? are the subject of many research studies, most of which concern secondary school students. There is a lack of similar studies of university undergraduates. The primary objective of our work was to study the criteria used by university students when they decide on the likelihood of an event after having taken an introductory course on probability theory. The second objective was to group students’ misconceptions into explanatory categories that could reveal their progress in understanding.

Resumen

Paralelamente al interés que recientemente está despertando la incorporación de la estadà­stica y la probabilidad a los desarrollos curriculares, surge la evidencia de que existen obstáculos importantes para el aprendizaje significativo de los conceptos involucrados. Estas dificultades y concepciones alternativas están siendo investigadas sobre todo en alumnos de secundaria, pero no asà­ en alumnos universitarios. El presente trabajo intenta, en primer lugar, estudiar los criterios que siguen los estudiantes para decidir acerca de la verosimilitud de un suceso, una vez que han recibido un curso a nivel universitario sobre teorà­a de la probabilidad. En segundo lugar, trata de agrupar estas concepciones en categorà­as explicativas que den una idea de la progresión del aprendizaje de los estudiantes.
